Glory of Rome slots is what you would expect to get from a software designer’s first outing. It is pretty basic in every way and lacks the dynamic portions that usually make online slot games fun. However, despite this game's flaws, it is still a fun game with redeeming qualities that should be mentioned. So, before you judge a book by its cover, learn more about Glory of Rome and what it offers.

This Is Glory?

The first thing you’ll notice about the whole game is how dull the color pallet is. The developer didn’t do the game any justice with light, washed-out color schemes. The background in nearly invisible but it looks like you are supposed to be in a field possibly with blue skies above.

The symbols don’t save this game either, with the same washed-out color patterns that make the game look more boring than it is. It employs the standard playing card symbols that slot players are accustomed to, but they are just the card’s symbol in a bubble font with dulled pastels around the outside. On fun departure from normal is the nine and ten card symbols are displayed in Roman numerals instead of traditional numbers. You can expect to see other symbols as well, such as Caesar, Roman Centurion Helmets, Lions, Gladiators, Chariots, and a Fair Maiden.

Keeping with its bare-bones appeal, this game doesn’t do much in the way of audio to draw players in. There is no theme song, as many slot games have. Instead, there is the dull, continuous sound of a jackpot going off in the background, like you would hear if you were sitting in a casino. When you hit a winning pay line there is a trumpet sound like you would expect when the ancient Romans announce a person of importance.

Not The Gladiator Way

If you are buckled in for a gladiator-style fight for riches, you’re going to be disappointed. This game continues its lackluster approach to slots by offering some basic bonus features. Caesar is a wild symbol that can replace any other symbol in the game for big payouts, and the more you get in a single pay line, the more significant the payout is.

The premiere feature is when you hit three or more gladiator symbols on a single spin. When you hit these scatter symbols, you automatically get eight free spins, and random bonuses are added to the reels. You are shown nine shields, and you choose four to see which bonuses you get. You can get more free spins from the shield game, but you can’t reactivate the bonus game while in the bonus game. During this portion of the bonus round, your spins are all set at the initial bet when you activated the game; however, all of your winnings are doubled.

Great For Beginners

Glory of Rome isn’t a bad game; it’s boring for those who love online slots. It doesn’t offer much in the way of bonuses or exciting gameplay in any way. Sometimes, games can get around this by creating a more enjoyable aesthetic experience, but the developers didn’t choose to do that either. This whole game seems like a rushed project or maybe the first attempt from a fledgling developer. Glory of Rome is not without merit. This is an excellent game that introduces people to online slots. It is easy to play and doesn’t have a lot of the confusion and distractions that come with other online slots. So, try Glory of Rome out, but know that you will likely be moving on from it soon.
